Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies can provide SCHOTT Borofloat®, borosilicate glass for a broad array of applications. The main components of borosilicate glass are silica and boron oxide which provide for a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, making the glass more resistant to thermal shock than other standard glass substrates. Additionally, borosilicate glass is resistant to chemical corrosion making it suitable for laboratory use.
Abrisa Technologies can apply Anti-reflective, dichroic, UV, IR, ITO and IMITO coatings to the glass substrates as well as chemically and heat strengthen, machine, drill, cut, edge, polish, clean, grind, and screen print the glass for total optical solution.

Coats a Wide Variety of Soda-Lime Glass
Substrates
Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies can provide custom fabrication and thin film coating of a wide selection of soda-lime float glass. Soda-lime glass can be chemically strengthened to increase mechanical strength or heat strengthened/tempered to increase thermal shock resistance and mechanical strength. The substrates can be machined, optically coated, chemically etched, sandblasted, colored, or laminated.
Soda-Lime sheet glass is made by a floating molten glass on a bed of molten tin; this method gives the sheet uniform thickness and very flat surfaces. Soda-lime is the base material for most clear, colored, and patterned glass types. Soda-Lime glass can be used in a wide range of applications.
Abrisa Technologies can supply the following soda-lime glass substrate material:
- Clear & Tinted – provides high light transmission, can be AR coated for super high transmission, can be chemically strengthened, and has good flatness and no green tint.
- Low Iron Soda-Lime – provides high light transmission, can be AR coated for super high transmission, can be chemically strengthened, and has good flatness and no green tint.
- Anti-Glare Reducing Etched Soda-Lime – provides glare reduction, has high resolution, superior durability, and anti-Newton ring.
- Patterned Glass for Light Control – can be fabricated into virtually any shape, drilled, sandblasted, screen printed, polished, UV coated, dichroic coated, heat tempered, and more.
- Low Emissivity (Low E) – provides a higher window U-Value, increased insulation performance, energy savings, and decreases color fade by blocking UV light.
- Heat Absorbing Float Glass – Absorbs IR.
Soda-Lime glass from Abrisa Technologies is held in stock in a wide variety of thicknesses and sizes for quick turnaround and delivery.

Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies can provide both Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) and Index-Matched Indium Tin Oxide (IMITO) thin film optical coatings for a wide variety of optics applications. The durable coatings provide for an electrically conductive glass surface that offers high optical transparency with transmittance levels that can be in excess of 99%. Common wavelengths for the coatings are 400 to 700 nm (visible) and 1500 to 1650 nm (near IR). A variety of sheet resistances such as 5 ohms per square for shielding applications and higher values for heater applications can be provided depending upon the particular application requirement. Glare reducing broadband anti-reflective coatings can also be applied to the glass substrate along with the ITO/IMITO coating.
ITO/IMITO coatings are commonly used to shield electromagnetic interference (EMI) while transmitting a high level of visible light, as heater windows for outdoor use, and in electronic devices such as LCDs and switches. The coatings can be applied to a wide variety of commercial glass such as soda lime float glass, borosilicate and aluminosilicate glass as well as other technical substrates such as ceramic, and fused silica.
Typical applications for ITO/IMITO coated glass include:
- Liquid crystal, flat panel, plasma, and touch panel displays
- Heated and anti-static windows
- Transparent EMF, EMI EMC, RFI, and HF shielded glass
- Instrumentation
- Electronic displays
- GPS systems
- Outdoor displays
- Heater panels
ITO and IMITO coatings from Abrisa Technologies are resistant to flaking, peeling, cracking, delaminating, and crazing. The coatings can be applied to substrate sizes as small as 0.25″ and up to a substrate size as large as 27″ in diameter. The minimum substrate thickness that Abrisa Technologies can provide ITO coatings for is 7 µm while the maximum substrate thickness that can be coated is up to 4″.
Custom fabrication of ITO/IMITO coated glass can include the addition of Bus Bars, custom edge treatments, opposed drilling of holes, custom cutting, chemical strengthening, screen printing, wire bonding, and more, for a fully integrated optics solution.
All ITO/IMITO coatings are applied via an ion assisted physical deposition process which provides an extremely uniform film while virtually eliminating macro particle content.

Reflect and Transmit Mirror Images
Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies designs and manufactures durable, light weight, non-polarizing plate beam splitters or optical mirrors for those applications where image polarization must be maintained across multiple optical paths. Beam splitter plates from Abrisa Technologies are available in various levels of transmittance and reflectance. Non-polarizing beam splitters greatly reduce the polarizing effect; in fact, they typically have less than half the polarizing effect of a standard beam splitter.
Typical applications include:
- Broadcasting equipment (teleprompters)
- 3D camera rigs
- Photographic equipment
- Laser equipment
- Measuring instruments
- Flight simulators
- Information displays and screens
The color neutral non-polarizing beam splitter plates from Abrisa Technologies have one surface coated with a hybrid multi-layer film for transmittance/reflectance values and the second surface has a thin film anti-reflective coating applied to reduce ghost or double images. They exhibit superior flatness and are more tolerant of large field angles. The manufacturing process used by Abrisa Technologies insures a low absorption rate of 5% typical.

1-side Anti-Reflective Coated
- Angle of Incidence: 45°
- Reflectance: <1.25% at 450-650nm (typical)
Opposite side coated with a hybrid multi-layer film beam splitter

Chemically Strengthened Thin Glass
from Abrisa Technologies is Scratch,
Impact and Shock Resistant
Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies’ High Ion-Exchange or HIE™ thin glass is chemically strengthened in a post-production chemical process, greatly increasing the strength of the glass significantly over that of float glass. The ion-exchange process creates a deep compression layer on the surface of the glass structure, resulting in a highly scratch, shock and impact resistant end product.
This thin, strong, and flexible glass is extremely durable and damage resistant making it ideal for use in electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, PCs, displays, touch screens, TVs, and a host of other electronic device applications.
The HIE™ ultra-tough, high performance thin glass allows for very sleek touch screen and display devices with improved brightness and touch sensitivity.
The easy-to-clean, wear resistant HIE™ glass is available in thicknesses from 0.5mm to 2.0mm which can be custom fabricated to meet application specific requirements. Precision cutting and machining, edge treatments, opposed drilling of holes, and custom screen prints can all be applied to the HIE™ glass.
In addition to custom fabrication, durable anti-reflective coatings can be applied for improved screen readability in bright light conditions whether indoor or outside in sizes up to a 27″ diagonal; larger sizes may be available. Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) and Index-Matched ITO coatings can be applied to the HIE™ glass for EMI shielding and heater panels for displays in medical and defense environments.
According to Jim Veler, President and CEO of Abrisa Technologies, “One of our unique capabilities as an optics manufacturer, is our ability to provide integrated solutions.” He further states, “By integrated, I mean that Abrisa Technologies can not only provide the HIE™ glass substrate, we can fabricate it to the size and shape desired as well as provide durable thin film coatings for a complete optics solution.”
