Specialty Coatings
Unique optical coatings designed to meet rigorous optical specifications as well as thermal, mechanical, weathering or bio compatibility requirements for challenging use environments as medical, dental, military, outdoor, UV/IR & high heat.
Anti-Fingerprint Coatings
Abrisa Technologies’ CleanVue™ PRO – Series of antireflection coatings combine improved handling, cleaning, water shedding, and robust performance with excellent anti-reflective properties making it ideal for displays and optical windows intended for use in “tough” outdoor, high traffic, or other challenging use environments. CleanVue™ PRO – Series anti-reflection coatings are both oleophobic and hydrophobic. CleanVue™ PRO’s oleophobic properties repel oil and make the glass easy-to-clean; fingerprints wipe off easily and the coating provides a non-smudge Surface. The hydrophobic properties repel water and other liquids, allowing for them to be shed easily from the glass, promoting easier “view-ability.” CleanVue™ PRO’s hydrophobic coating properties also reduce friction on the glass, providing improved surface “slickness,” enhancing scratch resistance.
Anti-Fog Coatings
Transparent conductive coatings are often used in electro-magnetic shielding, electrical heating, and cutting-edge display applications. ZC&R uses the coating material indium tin oxide (ITO) which provides for high durable coatings. Often, ITO coatings are used in contact with materials other than air. ZC&R often designs and produces ITO coatings designed specifically to be used next to materials such as liquid crystal, cements, index oils, and various other materials. ITO coatings that have been under-coated or over-coated to be index matched to a particular material such as liquid crystal can have very low reflectances. One determining factor as to how low a reflectance can be achieved is the sheet resistivity specification. Thicker ITO layers yield lower sheet resistivities but generally result in higher reflectances. Sheet resistivities as low as 5 to 10 ohms/sq and as high as a few thousand ohms/sq can be achieved. One common thickness of ITO, 100 angstroms, yields approximately 450 ohms/sq. ZC&R has a great deal of experience coating ITO and index-matched ITO and we would be happy to review any specification requirements you may have, and work with you to determine what can be achieved using ITO coatings for your particular application.
Anti-Abrasion Coatings
Abrisa Technologies now offers PRO-HC-VIS1, a protective anti-abrasion hard coat clear glass coating option for high traffic contact scanner applications which delivers up to 40X more linear taber abrasion resistance when compared to uncoated glass and HIE™ chemically strengthened glass surfaces.
Autoclavable Optical Coatings
The ZC&R Coatings for Optics division of Abrisa Technologies, designs and manufactures autoclavable coatings such as custom anti-reflection, mirror, and filter coatings for use in medical and dental environments where demanding optical performance and harsh sterilization processes are often employed to prevent contamination of instrumentation.
Bio/Chemical Compatible Coatings
Quality control, consistency, and reliability are critical for manufacturers of bio-medical and FDA regulated medical devices and biochips. For over two decades, Abrisa Technologies has supplied optical solutions for these light-enabled and fluorescence induced applications. We take pride in our ability to offer design-for-manufacture assistance, starting with a knowledge base for your application; understanding the complexities and unique optical, environmental, and use requirements, then collaborating with you to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions to complex problems.
Blackeye, Covert & Semi-Covert Filters
Typically used with infra-red cameras, scopes, and night vision goggles for surveillance, these filters enable infrared energy to be emitted from a variety of light sources while blocking visible energy, avoiding detection by the unaided eye.
CleanVue™ PRO AR Coating
The CleanVue™ PRO Series of Protective, Repelling and Oleophobic products are optical abrasion resistant coatings that repel dirt, dust, water, grease, and oil to enhance display glass performance and longevity. The resulting coated surfaces are easy-to-clean and maintain, do not stain, allow repeated removal of fingerprints, all while maintaining their optical properties. The PRO-AR399 is a severe abrasion resistant coating from this series, with anti-reflective performance of < 0.5% photopic reflectance. It is ideal for harsh and heavy use environments and enhanced glass performance and longevity.
Custom Design & Engineering
The ZC&R Coatings for Optics (ZC&R) team of design and manufacturing engineers collaborate with our customers to understand their wholistic market and application needs. This synergistic approach allows us to develop innovative thin film coating solutions to better meet their market and photonics enabled application demands. ZC&R customers gain access to innovative solutions unavailable elsewhere due to Abrisa Technologies’ expertise in a multitude of market applications, technical knowledge from fields of optics, physics, thin films, mechanical engineering, electronics, semiconductor, material properties, and of course our experience with designing thousands of thin film solutions. Couple this with volume manufacturing experience for both technology glass and thin film coating for a Total Solution approach.
Infrared (IR) Coatings
Typically used with infra-red cameras, scopes, and night vision goggles for surveillance, these filters enable infrared energy to be emitted from a variety of light sources while blocking visible energy, avoiding detection by the unaided eye.

UV Transmissive Coatings
UV Blocking Glass acts as a mirror with regard to ultraviolet light wavelengths (400nm and shorter). UV rays are one of the most significant sources of degradation in museum artwork. As such it is a problem that has prompted much consideration. Since artwork is intended to be seen, it is important that any solution to this problem not obscure visible light (400 – 700nm) wavelengths significantly while blocking or reflecting UV light. Adding an Anti-Reflection coating allows greater clarity in the visible light spectrum by helping to alleviate any inherent reflection in the glass.
