Corning® Fused Silica
Corning® 7980 is a very pure, non-crystalline silica glass. It features very low thermal expansion and excellent optical qualities, including very high transmission in the UV spectrum.
GE 124 Fused Quartz
GE 124 is a very pure fused quartz, made from crystalline silica. GE 124 is very similar to fused silica, with the exception of less transmission in the UV spectrum and much lower OH content. Other features besides its purity include excellent thermal properties and high resistance to chemicals.
Heat Tempered/Heat Strengthened Glass
Heat Tempering toughens soda lime through the controlled heating and cooling of the glass to maintain a temperature differential between the core and outer surfaces. The stressed induced compress the outer surfaces, forming a substrate substantially tougher than standard soda lime. When broken, tempered glass “dices” into many small pieces. This is typically referred to as “Safety Tempering” for its reduced likelihood of cutting a person in the event of a fracture.
SCHOTT BOROFLOAT® 33 Borosilicate Float Glass
BOROFLOAT® 33 is a UV-NIR transparent borosilicate float glass with excellent optical properties and smooth low scatter surfaces straight off the float process. It is an economical high- performance material, making it ideal for the volume manufacture of windows, mirrors, filters, display glass, 3D build platforms, and other components. BOROFLOAT® 33’s composition lends itself to outstanding thermal resistance and sharp impact crack resistance, making it an excellent choice for challenging use environments. SCHOTT Robax® Transparent Ceramic Glass
SCHOTT Robax® is a transparent ceramic glass that is extremely heat resistant. The combination of good optical transmission (including infrared, which we perceive as heat) and low thermal expansion make Robax® an excellent choice for windows in heating devices. Robax® also has good UV blocking characteristics. The most common uses are fireplaces, stoves, and other types of heating systems.
