Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies now offers an expanded range of standard stock non-glare (NG), anti-reflection (AR), and anti-reflection coated non-glare (NG/AR) glass solutions that are ready to be custom fabricated and screen printed to your exacting specifications.
 
According to Lisa Tsufura, Product Manager, “Display designers and integrators now have 3 top-notch options available to meet their requirements for sunlight readability and reduced reflection and glare while providing throughput efficiency for maintaining display screen brightness and image quality. NG glass, ideal for ultra-wide angle/wide spectrum use, AR coated glass for maximum display brightness and sharpest image quality, and NG/AR glass with the benefits of both.”
 
Ready-to-fabricate non-glare sheet sizes are available up to 78” x 46” and in thicknesses of 1.1, 1.9 and 3.0mm for non-glare soda lime in gloss levels of 60, 90 and 120. The non-glare glass can be provided 1 or 2 sides and is available in low iron, low sparkle. Additional options include AR coating of 1 or 2 sides and damage resistant HIE™ strengthened aluminosilicate glass in lieu of soda lime for increased durability.
 
Ready-to-fabricate AR coated sheet sizes are available up to 126” x 88” and in thicknesses of 0.7 to 3.0mm. The AR coating can be 1 or 2 sided with options available for oleo/hydrophobic performance. The AR coatings can be applied to SCHOTT Borofloat®, non-alkaline Corning® Eagle XG®, SCHOTT D263® thin glass, AGC EN-A1 thin glass, HIE™ chemically strengthened SCHOTT AS 87, Corning® Gorilla® Glass, and AGC Dragontrail™.

Tough Durable Coatings graphOptical elements in medical and dental devices not only have to enhance throughput efficiency and separate or combine portions of the light spectrum, they must also survive the device assembly and cleaning processes.
 
It is not uncommon for optical elements to be brazed or solder sealed into an assembly to provide permanent mounting and good hermetic environmental seals. Unlike many other solutions on the market, the CleanVue™ PRO – Series of Oleo/Hydrophobic AR coatings will not flake or peel off the glass substrate over time and maintain glass transparency and image clarity for displays and window elements.
 
CleanVue™ PRO – Series of anti-reflection (AR) coatings repel oil and make the glass easy-to-clean; fingerprints wipe off easily and the coating provides a non-smudge surface. They also repel water and other liquids, allowing them to be shed easily from the glass, promoting easier “view-ability”. The oleophobic properties lend themselves to reduced friction for enhanced scratch resistance to support longer product lifecycles.
 
CleanVue PRO is now available in two versions; outdoor and indoor:

This protective coating is well-suited for high performance anti-reflective (AR) coated cover glass for displays used in high contrast, heavy use and/or harsh environments. The resulting coated surface is easy-to-clean and maintain, does not stain, allows repeated removal of fingerprints, all while maintaining its anti-reflective properties. CleanVue™ PRO is ideal for protective vehicular instrument control panels and devices, field use touch and display panels, projected capacitive (PCAP) and capacitive touch screens, portable handheld devices, teleprompters, virtual reality applications, in-flight and vehicular entertainment screens and a host of other display devices.

Santa Paula, CA – August 2, 2013Abrisa Technologies provides front surface mirrors or first surface mirrors for a broad scope of optics applications. These mirrors have a long product life, superior durability, and can be cleaned easily.

 

Front surface mirrors have over-coated dielectric layers that are vacuum deposited on the surface of a clear glass substrate to increase reflectivity and protect against humidity and abrasion. The sharper image created by a front surface mirror lacks the ghosting effect of a conventional mirror.

 

The substrate of choice for a front service mirror is float glass with a typical flatness and irregularity of 4 to 6 waves per inch. Typical thicknesses that are available from stock are 1mm, 1.6mm, 2.3mm, 3mm, 5mm, 6mm, and 10mm. Front surface mirror sizes are available in dimensions up to 74” x 130” or 1880 mm x 3320 mm in 3mm and 6mm thicknesses.

 

  • Enhanced aluminum mirror coatings reflect from 85% to 97% over the visible spectrum (400-700 nm)
  • Protected gold mirror coatings reflect an average of 97% over a broader spectrum (700-2000 nm)

Santa Paula, CA – The ZC&R Coatings for Optics (ZC&R) division of Abrisa Technologies provides a line of cold mirrors that reflect Ultra Violet (UV) or visible energy while transmitting the infrared (heat energy). Cold mirror coatings are vacuum deposited multi-layer dielectric films that can operate in temperatures of ≥400°C and are durable and easy-to-clean.

 

The glass substrate used for our cold mirrors is SCHOTT Borofloat®, a versatile borosilicate glass substrate with excellent thermal properties. Thickness availability is 1.1mm, 1.75mm, and 3.3mm. Cold mirror sizes are available up to 27” diameter.

Santa Paula, CA – The ZC&R Coatings for Optics (ZC&R) division of Abrisa Technologies can supply hot mirrors or short wave pass filters (SWP) for heat control applications. For hot mirrors, a thin film coating is applied to a glass substrate, such as soda-lime or borosilicate, in order to reflect infrared radiation either as a means to harness the reflected wavelengths for an application or remove them from an application. Simplified, a hot mirror will separate visible light from heat. ZC&R typically provides hot mirrors in thicknesses of 1.1 mm, 1.75 mm. and 3.3mm and in diameters up to 24”. Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies can provide both Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) and Index-Matched Indium Tin Oxide (IMITO) thin film optical coatings for a wide variety of optics applications. The durable coatings provide for an electrically conductive glass surface that offers high optical transparency with transmittance levels that can be in excess of 99%. Common wavelengths for the coatings are 400 to 700 nm (visible) and 1500 to 1650 nm (near IR). A variety of sheet resistances such as 5 ohms per square for shielding applications and higher values for heater applications can be provided depending upon the particular application requirement. Glare reducing broadband anti-reflective coatings can also be applied to the glass substrate along with the ITO/IMITO coating.

 

ITO/IMITO coatings are commonly used to shield electromagnetic interference (EMI) while transmitting a high level of visible light, as heater windows for outdoor use, and in electronic devices such as LCDs and switches. Large format screen printing is available on substrate sizes as large as 72″ x 54″ (1828 mm x 1371 mm) while the minimum size for screen printing is 0.3″ x 0.3″ (7.6mm 7.6 mm).

of Color Correction Filters


Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies can provide a wide spectral range of color coatings and glass (color correction filters) from ultraviolet to infrared. The color filter glass can be provided in polished and unpolished versions and can be thermally strengthened as well. Additionally, the filter glass can have a range of thin film coatings applied such as AR or UV.

 

Edge treatments, special cutting and shapes as well as drilled holes can also be included in the fabrication of the customized glass filters.

  • Color Temperature Blue (CTB) Filters are used to correct the color temperature of a light source. A full CTB filter converts a 3200K light source to 5500K. Abrisa Technologies generally stocks CTB filters in 24″ diameter x 3.3 mm thick on Borofloat®. In addition, Abrisa Technologies has intermediate filters such as 1/4 and 1/2 CTB filters depending upon the amount of color correction required.
  • Color Temperature Orange (CTO) filters are another standard color correcting filter. Full CTO’s convert a 5500k light source to 3200K. Abrisa Technologies generally stocks CTO filters in 24″ diameter x 3.3 mm thick on Borofloat®. In addition, Abrisa Technologies has intermediate filters such as 1/8 and 1/4 CTO filters depending upon the amount of color correction required.
  • Color filter glass and coated Dichroics offered by Abrisa Technologies control light in the visible spectrum and include all primary colors (blue, red, green, yellow, cyan and magenta).
  • Neutral density (ND) filters can be absorptive or reflective and control light intensity without selectively absorbing energies at specific wavelengths. They attenuate the intensity of a light beam. ND filters from Abrisa Technologies are provided for both ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths.
  • Infrared (IR) blocking filters feature a high transmittance in the visible region and good absorption/reflection of infrared rays. They absorb/reflect thermal radiation emitted from a light source.
  • Cut-off filters eliminate unwanted wavelengths from the optical path and are available in two formats:
    • Short Pass (SP) – transmits shorter wavelengths and rejects a longer wavelengths
    • Long Pass (LP) – transmits longer wavelengths and rejects shorter wavelengths

SP and LP filters are useful in applications where spectral noise reduction is important or for isolating a particular region of the spectrum.

Borofloat® has a low specific weight in comparison to soda-lime glass, and is consequently well-suited for applications where weight limitations are a consideration. The glasses low thermal expansion and its high thermal shock resistance as well as its ability to withstand temperatures up to 450°C for long periods of time make Borofloat® ideal for applications where temperature stability is a must.

 

As far as optical properties, Borofloat® is a clear, transparent, colorless glass, with excellent transparency both in the ultraviolet and also in the visible and near infrared range of light. Its extra low inherent fluorescence or light emission, combined with very good surface quality, flatness, and homogeneity allow it to be utilized for a wide-range of applications for optics, opto-electronics, photonics, and analytical equipment.

 

Due to its low alkali content, Borofloat® acts as a high-power insulator, and is therefore a suitable material for applications where good non-conductive properties at temperatures up to 450°C are called for.

Santa Paula, CA – ZC&R Coatings for Optics, a division of Abrisa Technologies, now offers a of family of abrasion resistant windows that are custom designed to meet unique customer requirements. All abrasion resistant windows feature ZC&R’s high performance anti-reflective (AR) coatings that maximize optical transmittance while eliminating image ghosting, thereby protecting optical systems in hostile as well as common operating environments.

 

Abrasion from common airborne particles such as sand or poor cleaning procedures applied to external optical surfaces can significantly degrade the optical system performance. Airborne chemicals such as hydrogen sulfide, nitric acid, sulphuric acid, carbonic acid, and other corrosive constituents of urban smog can, over time, produce staining and etching of exposed optical surfaces.

 

To counteract these harmful environmental effects, ZC&R Coatings for Optics provides three levels of protection:

  • Level 1 – Hardened anti-reflective (AR) coatings applied to conventional glass substrates for less hostile operating environments.
  • Level 2 – Hardened anti-reflective (AR) coatings on hard optical substrates for more challenging environments.
  • Level 3 – Hardened anti-reflective (AR) coatings on sapphire laminated substrates for the most hostile operating conditions.

Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies has recently upgraded their Santa Paula facility with new equipment which enables screen printing of glass substrates in sizes up to 56” x 86” or 1,422.4 mm x 2,184.4 mm. with a tolerance of up to ±0.030” or ±0.76 mm depending on part size and image. Minimum substrate thickness is approx. 0.039” or 1 mm with maximum substrate thickness of 0.75” or 19 mm.

 

Screen printing is available in multiple standard and custom colors, including metallics, opaques, and semitransparent inks, and range from low temperature epoxies to high temperature frits. Minimum print resolution can be as fine as 0.005” or 0.127 mm for printing logos, icons, lettering, borders, and more.

 

The large format screen printing is ideal for large touch panels and display screens, outdoor displays, and digital signage applications. In addition to large format screen printing, Abrisa Technologies can also screen print glass substrates in sizes as small as 3” x 2” or 76.2 mm x 50.8 mm, with a tolerance of ±0.006” or ±0.15 mm. Minimum thickness for the smaller screen printing of 16” x 16” or 460 mm x 460 mm is 0.030” or 0.76 mm and maximum substrate thickness is 0.5” or 12.7 mm.

Hydrophobic and Oleophobic Optical Coatings from Abrisa Technologies are Ideal for Front Plate Display Applications


Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies now offers hydrophobic and oleophobic optical coatings that are ideally suited for cover plate display applications.

 

Abrisa Technologies’ water repellant hydrophobic coating is an organic film that will not degrade or delaminate over time, virtually lasting indefinitely. The coatings can be applied on glass substrates for optics applications with wavelengths between 250 nm and 2,700 nm. Additionally, the rugged coatings comply with MIL-C-575C for severe abrasion. The hydrophobic coating can be provided in either a coated or laminated process. Ideal for touch screens, the coatings provide a barrier against dirt, dust, and a host of aqueous solutions.

 

Abrisa Technologies’ oleophobic coating process creates a glass surface that is impervious to dirt, dust, oils, and other particulates, resulting in a surface that is easier to clean. Oleophobic coatings are well-suited for projected capacitive (PCAP) and capacitive touch screens, handheld devices, teleprompters, virtual reality applications, and more.
