Simplified, a hot mirror will separate visible light from heat. ZC&R typically provides hot mirrors in thicknesses of 1.1 mm, 1.75 mm. and 3.3mm and in diameters up to 24”. Custom sizes and thicknesses are available upon request.
Typical features of hot mirrors include:

Glass Substrates that are Designed for
Low Reflectance & High Transmission
Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies’ ZC&R Coatings for Optics (ZC&R) division, located in Torrance, California, provides both single and multi-layer all dielectric anti-reflective (AR) coatings onto glass substrates that are designed for low reflectance and high transmission. The AR coated glass can be used at temperatures of ≥ 300°C and meet MIL-C-675C, MIL-C-14806A, and MIL-C-48497A.
The coatings can be applied to standard glass substrates such as soda-lime float glass, borosilicate glass, water white float glass and more. Glass thicknesses ranging from 0.1mm up to 25.4 mm and even higher for custom requirements can be coated. Reflectance can be as low as 0.05% depending upon the wavelengths covered. Transmittance is very high, but varies due to substrate material.
AR coated glass is often a crucial component in optical systems with multiple lenses or other optics where maximum possible light energy is needed. AR coatings from ZC&R help produce brighter images while reducing the intensity of ghost images which are sometimes produced in optical systems having multiple reflecting surfaces.
Broad Wavelength Band AR Coatings provided include:
- BARC-5 – High efficiency AR coating that reflects less than 0.5% average from 424-675 nm
- BARC-11 – Provides a low level of reflectance across a wide spectrum from 400-100 nm

As a market leader in optical coatings and high quality precision glass fabrication, Abrisa Technologies is dedicated to providing premier customer service, cost-effective products that fit each customer’s exacting requirements.
Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies can provide both Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) and Index-Matched Indium Tin Oxide (IMITO) thin film optical coatings for a wide variety of optics applications. The durable coatings provide for an electrically conductive glass surface that offers high optical transparency with transmittance levels that can be in excess of 99%. Common wavelengths for the coatings are 400 to 700 nm (visible) and 1500 to 1650 nm (near IR). A variety of sheet resistances such as 5 ohms per square for shielding applications and higher values for heater applications can be provided depending upon the particular application requirement. Glare reducing broadband anti-reflective coatings can also be applied to the glass substrate along with the ITO/IMITO coating.
ITO/IMITO coatings are commonly used to shield electromagnetic interference (EMI) while transmitting a high level of visible light, as heater windows for outdoor use, and in electronic devices such as LCDs and switches. The coatings can be applied to a wide variety of commercial glass such as soda lime float glass, borosilicate and aluminosilicate glass as well as other technical substrates such as ceramic, and fused silica.
Typical applications for ITO/IMITO coated glass include:

of Color Correction Filters
Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies can provide a wide spectral range of color coatings and glass (color correction filters) from ultraviolet to infrared. The color filter glass can be provided in polished and unpolished versions and can be thermally strengthened as well. Additionally, the filter glass can have a range of thin film coatings applied such as AR or UV.
Edge treatments, special cutting and shapes as well as drilled holes can also be included in the fabrication of the customized glass filters.
- Color Temperature Blue (CTB) Filters are used to correct the color temperature of a light source. A full CTB filter converts a 3200K light source to 5500K. Abrisa Technologies generally stocks CTB filters in 24″ diameter x 3.3 mm thick on Borofloat®. In addition, Abrisa Technologies has intermediate filters such as 1/4 and 1/2 CTB filters depending upon the amount of color correction required.
- Color Temperature Orange (CTO) filters are another standard color correcting filter. Full CTO’s convert a 5500k light source to 3200K. Abrisa Technologies generally stocks CTO filters in 24″ diameter x 3.3 mm thick on Borofloat®. In addition, Abrisa Technologies has intermediate filters such as 1/8 and 1/4 CTO filters depending upon the amount of color correction required.
- Color filter glass and coated Dichroics offered by Abrisa Technologies control light in the visible spectrum and include all primary colors (blue, red, green, yellow, cyan and magenta).
- Neutral density (ND) filters can be absorptive or reflective and control light intensity without selectively absorbing energies at specific wavelengths. They attenuate the intensity of a light beam. ND filters from Abrisa Technologies are provided for both ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths.
- Infrared (IR) blocking filters feature a high transmittance in the visible region and good absorption/reflection of infrared rays. They absorb/reflect thermal radiation emitted from a light source.
- Cut-off filters eliminate unwanted wavelengths from the optical path and are available in two formats:
- Short Pass (SP) – transmits shorter wavelengths and rejects a longer wavelengths
- Long Pass (LP) – transmits longer wavelengths and rejects shorter wavelengths
SP and LP filters are useful in applications where spectral noise reduction is important or for isolating a particular region of the spectrum.
Color correction filters have many useful applications in a wide variety of industries:
- Machine vision
- Photography
- Remote sensing
- Lighting (commercial, architectural & entertainment)
- Medical imaging
- General industrial
Coated and uncoated glass filters provided by Abrisa Technologies are superior to plastic filters due to their longevity and durability as they can better withstand much higher intensity light sources.

Reflect and Transmit Mirror Images
Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies designs and manufactures durable, light weight, non-polarizing plate beam splitters or optical mirrors for those applications where image polarization must be maintained across multiple optical paths. Beam splitter plates from Abrisa Technologies are available in various levels of transmittance and reflectance. Non-polarizing beam splitters greatly reduce the polarizing effect; in fact, they typically have less than half the polarizing effect of a standard beam splitter.
Typical applications include:
- Broadcasting equipment (teleprompters)
- 3D camera rigs
- Photographic equipment
- Laser equipment
- Measuring instruments
- Flight simulators
- Information displays and screens
The color neutral non-polarizing beam splitter plates from Abrisa Technologies have one surface coated with a hybrid multi-layer film for transmittance/reflectance values and the second surface has a thin film anti-reflective coating applied to reduce ghost or double images. They exhibit superior flatness and are more tolerant of large field angles. The manufacturing process used by Abrisa Technologies insures a low absorption rate of 5% typical.
Non-Polarizing Plate Beam Splitter Specifications:
1-side Anti-Reflective Coated
- Angle of Incidence: 45°
- Reflectance: <1.25% at 450-650nm (typical)
Opposite side coated with a hybrid multi-layer film beam splitter
