Abrisa Technologies to Exhibit at SID 2015 in San Jose, California

Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies a global leader in thin film optical coatings, custom glass fabrication, and specialty flat glass optics will be participating in Display Week 2015; an international symposium, seminar and exhibition to be held at the San Jose Convention Center. The exhibition runs from Tuesday, June 2nd through Thursday June 4th and attendees can visit Abrisa Technologies at Booth #841. Display Week is the premier event for suppliers to showcase their hottest technologies supporting the display marketplace.

 

According to Jacky Vel, Vice President of Marketing for Abrisa Technologies, “Our glass and customized optical products are used in display applications such as digital signage, video walls, field LCD displays, pico or virtual 3-D head mounted displays and more.” She further states, “Our glass, coatings, screen printed graphics, and electrical connectivity support the information display markets need for custom, thin, robust, curved, and high resolution displays.”

Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies is pleased to announce that Dr. Vladimir Medvedev has joined the Abrisa Technologies engineering team at their thin film coatings facility, located in Torrance. Dr. Medvedev’s brings 20+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry, working with such companies as BAE Systems, Global Communication Semiconductor, and TRW Inc.
 
Dr. Medvedev earned his Ph.D.E.E from the Kiev Polytechnic Institute and his M.S.E.E from Kiev State University. He currently holds 4 patents and has over 20 papers published. According to Blake Fennell, President and CEO, “Dr. Medvedev’s reputation and breadth of knowledge of the microelectronic and semiconductor industries will bring new insight and technical prowess to the thin film coatings engineering team.” Fennell further adds, “Dr. Medvedev will support our growth path of providing more complex wafer and component coatings for extremely demanding applications.”
 
According to Dr. Medvedev, “My expertise in thin film technology, plasma etching, statistical process control, CPI, cost and cycle time reduction, as well as an array of additional semiconductor wafer processing techniques will help move the Abrisa Technologies manufacturing process performance to the next level. Lawrence Luke Joins Abrisa Technologies as a Thin Film Engineer

Torrance, CA – Abrisa Technologies is pleased to announce that Lawrence Luke has joined the company as a Thin Film Applications Engineer at their thin film coatings facility, located in Torrance, California. Lawrence earned his BS in Physics from the University of Massachusetts and has 6+ years experience in precision thin film coatings development and multi-layer thin film stacks for military and industrial applications from infrared to near UV. As a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) Engineer, Lawrence’s experience with new product development in the fields of optical interference filters and semiconductor fabrication technology will be of tremendous value to Abrisa Technologies.
 
According to Lawrence, “I was highly motivated to join the company, as their Torrance, California optical coatings facility is well regarded in the industry. As a PVD engineer, I wanted to bring my knowledge and experience to the company and its customers to help optimize processes and solutions for today’s increasingly demanding optics applications.”
 
While at OPHIR Optics, LLC as a Thin Film Process Technician, Lawrence was involved with thin film coating of optical components for military, automotive and R&D products. This experience pairs well with the responsibilities he will have at ZC&R. At Materion Corporation as an Application Engineer, Lawrence was a key player in their microelectronics and services business unit, integrating Materion products in the fabrication of thin films for customer R&D initiatives.
 
According to Robert Cabrera, Vice President of Engineering & Product Development at Abrisa Technologies, “Lawrence’s skill set and knowledge of the thin film coatings process and optics will help the company serve more complex, higher quality needs where technical and operational performance are equally critical.“
 
Cabrera further states, “His ability to evaluate new materials for unique requirements, and background in Six Sigma Lean manufacturing will be of significant value, insuring that our optical coating solutions are best in class.”
 
As a published author of two papers; “Middle Infrared Electroluminescence of n-type Cr doped ZnSe Crystals” and Developing a Fundamental Understanding of Gold Spitting during Evaporation”, Lawrence is making a name for himself in the thin film coating industry which ZC&R will fully support.

Torrance, CA – ZC&R Coatings for Optics, a division of Abrisa Technologies is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a reception and dinner with Angus Macleod, President of Thin Film Center Inc, and a Professor Emeritus of Optical Sciences, University of Arizona as the featured speaker. The topic of the presentation will be “What’s Happening in Optical Coatings.”
 
Sponsored by the Southern California Chapter of the American Vacuum Society (AVS), the event will be held at ZC&R’s Torrance facility located at 1401 Abalone Avenue. The evening’s events will begin at 6:00 pm with a reception and dinner, followed by the presentation by Dr. Macleod at 7:00 pm with a tour of the ZC&R facility commencing at 8:00 pm.
 
The ever-increasing volume of advances in optics constantly brings newer and greater challenges to the optical coatings provider making it especially necessary to continue to progress and educate in the general area of thin films.
 
The presentation to be given by Dr. Macleod will cover the current state of the art in optical coatings including technology, materials and applications.

Abrisa Technologies provides integrated optical solutions including precision glass fabrication and high efficiency optical coatings for the display and imaging, optoelectronics, lighting and entertainment, aerospace and defense, and general industrial markets.

 

Mr. Miller “Bob” comes to Abrisa Technologies with very distinguished credentials, including extensive supply chain management, manufacturing, and materials management expertise in the high-tech manufacturing arena. His career includes operational management positions with CVI Melles Griot, Advanced Bionics, Coherent, Inc., Portable Energy Products, Siemens Corp. and Harris Microwave to name but a few. With a B.S. Degree in Physics from Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California, Bob possesses the perfect hands on experience and educational mix to upgrade and enhance the operational capabilities of the company.

 

According to Blake Fennell, President and CEO at Abrisa Technologies, “Bob has the unique ability to identify root cause problems and put systems in place to deal with those problems quickly and efficiently. Fabrication Facts provides the site visitor with a quick-and-easy read “tutorial” of a broad selection of topics dealing with glass fabrication and processing. Each week a new fabrication fact will be published. Site visitors are encouraged to check weekly to read up on the latest posting.

Blake Fennell
Named President and CEO of Abrisa Technologies

Santa Paula, CA – We are pleased to announce that Mr. Blake Fennell has joined Abrisa Technologies as President and CEO effective August 27, 2012.

 

Mr. Fennell comes to Abrisa Technologies following a strong and very successful 17+ year career at Melles Griot, where he held multiple senior leadership roles, serving as Chief Operating Officer and then as Chief Executive Officer of this manufacturer and distributor of photonics-related components and sub-systems; including lasers, optical systems, and electro-optical components.

 

Following the acquisition of Melles Griot by Norwest Equity Partners in 2007, Blake served for an additional 4 years as President of the Laser Group within CVI Melles Griot, a California based manufacturer of lasers and laser-based light engines serving the biomedical-instrumentation, industrial, aerospace/defense, and micro-electronics industries. In all of these roles, Blake demonstrated a strong commitment to growth through innovative manufacturing, redesigned supply chain logistics, and sales/distribution programs which served his customers well, encouraging strong growth of the businesses he has run.

 

According to Blake, “I look forward to this new and exciting chapter in my career with Abrisa Technologies. NEW YORK, NY, November 30, 2011 — Abrisa Glass has been selected for the 2011 Best of Santa Paula Award in the Optical Goods category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).

 

The USCA “Best of Local Business” Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. Products & Services at SID 2011


March 1, 2011 – Santa Paula, CA – Abrisa Technologies an ISO 9001 company and a global leader in thin film optical coatings, custom glass fabrication, and specialty glass products will be participating in the Society for Information Display Exhibition – SID 2011 to be held in Los Angeles, California, at the Los Angeles Convention Center on May 17th through 19th, booth # 1206.

 

At the exhibition, attendees will be able to view the latest products and services Abrisa Technologies has to offer the touch panel and display markets. Abrisa Technologies provides precision fabricated glass and coatings for cover and back plate applications for multi-touch, resistive, projected capacitive (PCAP), surface acoustic wave (SAW), optical touch, micro-display, and acoustic pulse recognition (APR) touch screens and displays. Additionally, Abrisa Technologies can provide EMI/RFI suppression, heater panels with bus bars, IR/UV blocking windows, and glass fabrication and coatings for outdoor displays.

 

Abrisa Technologies has the capability of chemically strengthening thin glass in thicknesses of less than 3mm and can process glass in sizes up to 28” x 36”. Another fabrication capability from Abrisa Technologies is their large format screen print capability, new equipment allows for screen printed optics up to 56” x 86”.

 

Custom coatings capabilities to be featured at the exhibition include: Anti-Reflective (AR) Coatings, Hot Mirror & IR Blockers, Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) and Index-Matched (IMITO) Coatings, Hydrophilic, Hydrophobic & Oleophobic Coatings, and Front Surface Mirror & Beam Splitter. Once visitors enter the site, they can navigate through the various pages to get detailed information about each of the three brands/divisions, quality, product news, events such as trade show participation, sales contact information, and more.

ZC&R Coatings for Optics, a Division of Abrisa Technologies will be Participating in Photonics West 2011


December 7, 2010 – Santa Paula, CA – ZC&R Coatings for Optics, a division of Abrisa Technologies and a global leader in thin film optical coatings will be participating in the 2011 Photonics West Show being held at Moscone Center in San Francisco, California from January 25th through January 27th. To check out ZC&R’s line of optical coatings show attendees should make their way over to booth 541.

 

According to Jim Walker, ZC&R’s Engineer Sales Manager, “The expanded family of precision hot mirrors offered by ZC&R are ideal for separating unwanted infrared from visible light for applications in medical, defense, aerospace, life sciences, imaging, astronomy, and entertainment industries.”
